Guardian Automotive is the newest company in the auto glass industry to recycle windscreens. Buyers of 4 of the organization's distribution centres can return damaged windshields to Guardian to be recycled.
"We are excited about our new green initiative," announces Scott Billings, director of distribution operations for Guardian Automotive. "Windshield recycling is a win / win we're doing the proper thing for the environment by keeping windshields out of landfills and we are helping our clients cut back their waste costs."
The company plans to expand the program to the other eight distribution centres later on. The four centres currently participating are Detroit, Cincinnati, Findlay and Atlanta.
"We've received plenty of good feedback from our customers," says Billings. "Once we put the new containers out and communicated with our customers, we right away commenced seeing damaged windshields being returned.".
